Assistant Director Sean Watson
My name is Sean Watson, I am currently a Deputy Sheriff with the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, in Arizona. I first became involved with the Cops N Jocks Program in September of 1998. In September of 1997. I was a Sophomore at Camarillo High School, when I heard of the Cops N Jocks Youth Academy. I applied to the Youth Academy, and was told by Academy Staff that because I was not a Junior, I would need special approval from the Academy Commander to attend. As a typical high school student, I lost interest and forgot about the Youth Academy. I didn’t bother trying to obtain approval. In September of 1998 I received a telephone call at home from Officer Chris Sherry of the California Highway Patrol. Officer Sherry told me that he was going through old applications and saw mine. After speaking with Officer Sherry, I re-submitted my application and was accepted to the 16-week Youth Academy. I graduated the Youth Academy Outstanding Cadet. I asked Officer Randolph, the Program Director, if the program needed any assistance. Since then I have been involved with the Student Government, Youth Academy, and the National Operations Where I have recently become one of the Assistant Directors of the Cops N Jocks Program. The Officers I learned from while in the Youth Academy, and those that I worked with while doing other various jobs with the Cops N Jocks Program, not only kept me on the right path but became my friends. Friends, which I was able to tell my problems to, someone who supported my decisions and officers who I am still friends with today. These Officers supported me through police academies in California, and in Arizona, and were not only resources but also confidants. I commend each and every officer involved in the Cops N Jocks Program, and Hope that someday I may have the opportunity to provide a young person with the same support and friendship that these officers had provided to me.
