Samuel Dominguez
I am writing this letter to let you know of what the Cops N Jocks Program did for me.  It all started my senior year (1993-1994) at Santa Paula Union High School.  That is when I first met the Cops N Jocks Coordinator, Rich Randolph, and Santa Paula High School police representative, Detective Dave Kemp.  I was playing varsity football and became involved with the Cops N Jocks Program.  I assisted in filming a commercial produced by the program.  It gave me the opportunity to meet different athletes and police officers in my county.  I think Rich and Dave steered me in the right direction and really helped me in deciding if law enforcement was right for me.  I participated in many programs while in high school and I think the Cops N Jocks Program was one of the best that was offered to me.  After high school, I continued on to junior college and studied the criminal justice system.  After completing my studies, I was hired by the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department as a cadet.  In January of 1999, I was hired as a Deputy Sheriff trainee for the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department.  I have since completed a twenty-four week Academy at the Ventura County Criminal Justice Training Center in Camarillo, California.  I have been working in regular deployment for the department since June of 1999.  I think Cops N Jocks really helped me in choosing my career and I think it will help other kids in the future also.
